The RnB American Singer, Usher Raymond, has given up alcohol consumption saying he wants to be at his best when performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
The Jasmine Brand shared the news on their X handle, as Usher showed some excitement performing at the show sponsored by Apple Music.
Usher will also be quitting all sugars to enhance his performance at the event slated for Feb. 11, 2024 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In a statement, Usher said, “It’s an honor of lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list.
While getting ready for a superior performance at the show, according to the Jasmine Brand, Usher expressed, “I think being able to see performances from actors like Michael Jackson, you know, eventually Prince, and then even more mordern-day artists…I was like, ‘Man at some point I need to get a call with what is going on now.’
However, like Usher, singers will achieve their best if they heed the warnings such as contained in the article on Musician Health and Wellness by St.Olaf College which expressed that alcohol dehydrates a singer’s body, and making his voice less resilient from traumatic vocal use.
It warned that alcohol had an aesthetic effect that causes vocal chords being pressed together harder in order to achieve a normal sensation while singing.
While Brigitte Krahn in Throga.com wrote against sugar consumption by singers that it thickens the mucus that is present in the airways, increases its production and makes it harder to sing clear tones. It may also cause acid reflux which irritates vocal folds.
