In a moment filled with jubilation, Bingham University marked the induction of 81 medical doctors into the esteemed medical profession, bringing joy to the graduates, their families, friends, and the university staff.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. W. B. Qurix, OFR, represented by the Provost of the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, expressed gratitude to the faculty for their role in nurturing and guiding the new doctors. He commended the graduates for their exemplary conduct and took the opportunity to thank God for witnessing his final induction ceremony as Vice Chancellor before stepping down from office on January 8, 2024.
Encouraging the new doctors, Prof. Qurix urged them to continue bringing pride to the university, following in the footsteps of their predecessors.
Rev. Dr. Stephen Baba Panya, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees and ECWA President, represented by Rev. Ayuba Asheshe, expressed confidence in the inductees, attributing their potential for greatness to the quality of their educators. He challenged them to pursue continuous knowledge, acknowledging that challenges would arise, but with them come growth opportunities.
The event’s medical elder, renowned Gastroenterologist Prof. Abraham Orkurga Malu (OON), shared insights from his extensive experience. He emphasized the excitement of practising medicine and stressed the importance of staying updated on the latest developments in the field. Prof. Malu encouraged the new doctors to maintain positive relationships with colleagues, seek guidance from experienced professionals, and uphold ethical standards in their practice.
Highlighting the occasion was the administration of the oath by the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), represented by Dr. Abdu Enejo (Assistant Registrar-Professional Discipline), and the acknowledgement of students who distinguished themselves in their studies.
