Grammy Award winner Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, has refuted allegations of disrespecting a member of Steel Pulse, as claimed by David ‘Electric’ Hinds, the lead singer of the renowned Reggae band.
Burna Boy addressed the rumour during the ongoing Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay, Jamaica, stating that those spreading the rumour are seeking attention.
The Afrobeats star clarified that he did not intentionally disrespect anyone, but emphasized that he wouldn’t hesitate to stand up for himself if someone tried to disrespect him.
Hinds had alleged that Burna Boy and his entourage bullied Steel Pulse out of their dressing room to make space for themselves, but Selwyn Brown, an original member of Steel Pulse, stated that the band refused to be intimidated.
Brown said, “Who does he think he is? We refused to leave, and the security team built a barricade between our dressing rooms, making us feel like we were in prison.”
David Electric added, “This behaviour is not part of Reggae culture. We promote peace, love, unity, and standing up for our rights. We must never give up the fight.”
