Afrobeats star Damini Ogulu Ebunoluwa, aka Burna Boy, has matched colleague Temilade Openiyi, aka Tems’, record as the Nigerian artist with the second-most certified singles in the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
This achievement follows the Gold certification of his collaborative hit with British Grime star Dave, “Location,” by RIAA for selling 500,000 units in the country.
Burna Boy’s three songs – “Last Last” (Platinum), “Ye” (Gold), and “On The Low” (Gold) – are already certified in the United States.
Ayodeji Balogun, aka Wizkid, remains the most certified Nigerian artist in the US with seven certified singles.
Notably, American rapper J.Cole earned his first-ever Diamond certified single with “Middle Child” in 2019, selling 10 million units.
Burna Boy has achieved incredible feats in his music career, including winning the Grammy Awards, a feat also attained by Wizkid and Tems in their impressive music runs.
