Breakthrough
Have you heard? Surgeons in Boston successfully transplanted a kidney from a genetically engineered pig into a 62-year-old man. This marks the first procedure of its kind and has the potential to revolutionize organ transplantation. The new kidney started producing urine shortly after the surgery, indicating its functionality.
Dr. Leonardo V. Riella, the medical director for kidney transplantation at Mass General, expressed optimism about the development, stating that if kidneys from genetically modified animals can be transplanted on a large scale, dialysis could become obsolete. Mass General Brigham, the hospital’s parent organization, developed the transplant program.
This advancement is particularly significant as millions of people worldwide suffer from kidney failure and require dialysis, a procedure that filters toxins from the blood.

New Baby for Emeka Ike
After being blessed with a new baby girl, the Nollywood veteran actor, Emeka Ike, has named her Chidera Comfort Thando Ike.
Ike disclosed this on his Instagram page, saying baby Chidera was a new blessing that filled the huge vacuum that his late mother, Mama Comfort Okwuchi Ike, left behind.
The popular actor had lost his mother recently, and as the coming of his new child coincided with his birthday, he described the occurrence as a “double blessing for one loss.”
He was full of praise for his wife, Yolanda Pfeiffer, for “taking the pains of the wonderful gift.”
Emeka, who had left Nollywood for some time, came back to reckoning, starring in a movie, ‘Malaika,’ produced by Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham.
The veteran actor and his former wife, Suzanne Emma, got divorced in 2015, ending a relationship that was embroiled in a dirty fight.
Ike was accused of wife battery, an allegation that left him shattered, took a school from him, lost a substantial amount of money, and having him ducked from acting for a while.
However, the actor’s life has begun to take shape, looking brighter.
