The Management of the Federal University Oye Ekiti has vowed to get to the root of the death of Modupe Deborah Atanda, a 200 level Nursing student of Faculty of Medical Sciences who was murdered on Wednesday September 6, 2023.
According to a release by the Registrar of the institution, Mufutau Ibrahim, the”Management reiterated that investigation is still ongoing and this is being done in collaboration with national security agencies with a view to getting to the root of the sad development and bringing to book the culprits.”
The authority promised that all steps would be taken by the University to fish out any and all culpable persons who shall face the full consequences of their actions.
It added that armed security personnel have been deployed for patrol, surveillance and security purposes, disclosing that several arrests have been made of suspects.
However, when BlackCampus online Magazine spoke to some students of the University, they are requesting the authority to clear all bushes around the school, supply them with reliable power, and provide watertight security.
Consequently, the University has further directed all students in all the campuses of the institution to vacate the premises until a new resumption date is announced.
Atanda was said to have gone on a private study in Phase 3 of the school where Faculty of Medical Sciences is located, but upon passing through a bush path while returning in the night, she was caught, raped, murdered and had her eyes gorged out.
Meanwhile, members of the Federal House Representatives have waded in, demanding full investigation into the murder.
