East Africa’s Longest Heated Oil Pipeline
The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is poised to become the world’s longest heated crude oil pipeline, spanning 1,443 kilometers.
This engineering marvel incorporates electrical and fiber-optic cables to provide heat and enable real-time surveillance, ensuring the prevention of leaks through continuous monitoring.
Costing approximately USD 4 billion, the EACOP is the linchpin of Uganda’s burgeoning oil and gas sector development, with plans to commence pumping its first crude oil in 2025.
“EACOP promises to be one of the world’s smartest and safest bulk pipelines with real-time satellite monitoring along its entire length,” stated Dozith Abeinomugisha, Director of Midstream Developments at PAU.
With the EACOP’s completion, Uganda is poised to join the ranks of oil-producing countries, marking a significant milestone for the region’s economic landscape.
Welcome to the rank of oil producing countries Uganda.
