The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it has remitted N3.5 billion to the Federal Government this year.
Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Board, made this announcement during the Policy Meeting and the 4th edition of the National Tertiary Admissions’ Performance-Merit Award (NATAP-M Award).
The University of Ilorin was awarded N500 million after scoring 12 points in the overall category of five elements.
An additional N750 million has been set aside for the winning institution, as Ahmadu Bello University Zaria emerged second, winning a cash prize of N75 million, while Borno State University came third, winning N50 million with nine points.
In the sectoral awards, Kaduna Polytechnic won N50 million as the best polytechnic, securing 12 points.
The Federal College of Education Zaria received N50 million, scoring 11 points, as PEFTI Film Institute, Lagos won N10 million for the Innovation Enterprises Institutions Award, with six points.
Professor Oloyede stated that the overall award prize was increased to N750 million to help the winner achieve tangible results.
He added that institutions can only win the award once every five years, allowing the prize to rotate among institutions.
