The 13 new programmes at Kwara State University, Malete, which have been approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC), will commence in the 2024/2025 academic session.
According to a statement by the Acting Director of University Relations, Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, the approval was contained in a letter to the Vice Chancellor of the University, signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning of the NUC, Abubakar Girei, on behalf of the Acting Executive Secretary of the Commission.
The programmes, which include two undergraduate courses and 11 postgraduate courses, will be offered in full-time mode.
The approved undergraduate programmes are B.HIM in Health Information Management and in Development Studies.
The approved postgraduate programmes include LL.M and Ph.D in Common Law, LL.M and Ph.D in Islamic Law, and Ph.D in Library and Information Science.
Additionally, the NUC approved Ph.D in Human Kinetics, Ph.D in Special Education, and Medical Laboratory Science, a Master’s in Public Sector Accounting, and Master’s in Development Finance.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, expressed excitement about the approval of the new programmes and commended the State Government for its support in making the accomplishment achievable.
He also expressed appreciation for the staff of the institution who showed enthusiasm for taking on the new programmes and contributing to human capital development.”
