Veteran actress Ngozi Nwosu has revealed that a lack of trust has become a significant issue among Nigerian actors and actresses.
In a recent media chat, Nwosu expressed that it has become challenging to relate with one another in the Nigerian theatre world, unlike in the past when there was a sense of love, unity, and togetherness.
Nwosu stated, “We no longer relate as we used to. We used to visit each other’s homes and feel comfortable, but now you can’t do that because you don’t know who to trust.”
The 60-year-old actress also criticized the current state of Nollywood, saying it has become predictable and lacks depth. She noted that incompetent producers are now producing movies, resulting in haphazardly prepared and unrelatable content.
Nwosu reminisced about the past when actors and actresses were mindful of their image, but now, she says, “People do whatever they want, without considering the consequences.”
Despite her criticisms, Nwosu acknowledged the improvements in the movie industry, particularly the upgrade from VHS to modern technology.
