The Nigerian film industry is thriving, with ‘Lakatabu’, a local film produced by Odunlade Adekola, selling N126 million worth of tickets in Nigerian cinemas in under four weeks. Filmoneng, a prominent West African movie distribution company, announced this feat.
Notably, Filmoneng has successfully distributed blockbuster movies like ‘Omoghetto The Saga,’ and ‘A Tribe Called Judah.’
‘Lakatabu’ premiered on June 21 and has become one of the most successful movies of 2024, according to Filmoneng.
The Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN) reported that ‘Lakatabu’ was the highest-grossing Nollywood film between June 21 and June 27, 2024, earning N65 million.
Additionally, Nairametrics noted that ‘Lakatabu’ had an impressive opening weekend, earning N47 million and securing 11,000 cinema admissions, marking the highest opening in 2024.
Last week, the film earned around N94 million.
The movie features renowned actors like Adebayo Salami, Akin Lewis, Lateef Adedimeji, and Adekola himself.
