The LASU management has expressed concern over the conversion of classrooms, offices, and the Students Union Arcade into overnight accommodations by students and lecturers.
To address this issue, the management has issued a directive prohibiting the use of these facilities for residential purposes, citing security and health hazards.
The Senate meeting resolved that only during examination periods can students stay overnight on campus.
Strict disciplinary measures will be taken against those who contravene this guideline, and academic staff requiring overnight stays for work purposes must coordinate with the Chief Security Officer and the Security Unit, warned the Senate.
The management also intends to direct the Student Union Executive to cease using the Arcade as a residential facility.
Investigations revealed that students and lecturers have been using classrooms and offices as sleeping quarters, cooking utensils, and all.
The Student Union Executive Committee members have also been accused of converting the Arcade into a makeshift dormitory, hosting friends of the opposite sex.
Security reports indicate that the Student Union Executive claims autonomy over the Arcade due to its student-controlled status.
The management is working to address this issue and maintain a safe and secure environment for all members of the university community.
