A dispute has arisen between Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and the College of Medicine University of Lagos (CMUL) over an outstanding electricity bill owed to Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC).
The unpaid bill, totaling over N250 million, has left CMUL without power, threatening the upcoming exams of its students.
In response, the students protested on Friday, July 2024, carrying placards and chanting slogans.
According to Sahara Reporters who quoted a reliable source, the school management paid N80 million on Thursday and an additional N50 million on Friday, but a balance of N145 million remains outstanding.
The students queried the school management about the power outage and were informed that the college had not paid EKEDC’s bill for May.
