Manchester United continues to express interest in Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt, with hopes of bringing the Dutch center-back to the Premier League this summer.
Although the signing of Lille’s Lenny Yoro has added some complexity to the situation, United remains focused on potentially acquiring another key defender.
Fabrizio Romano, during his live Playback show, commented: “Manchester United hasn’t closed the door on the possibility of signing another significant center-back during this summer’s transfer window.”
He added, “United is still considering Matthijs de Ligt as an option. While there have been rumors about Branthwaite, Everton’s asking price of at least ยฃ70m makes him too costly. In contrast, Matthijs de Ligt is more affordable, at around โฌ50m. United plans to move forward with acquiring another center-back once they finalize some outgoing transfers.”
