The embattled owner of Marlian Music, and singer, Azees Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has expressed that he was not a drug lord and doesn’t belong to any cult or fraternity.
Marley made this known in a statement from Marlian Music, signed by him, saying he was dedicated to proving his innocence.
He added that he was cooperating with the authorities to clear his name with sufficient evidence.
Marley stated regarding the death of his signee and Afrobeat singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka Mohbad, that he had never fought or attacked him.
“…I have never instructed anyone, friend, known associates or fans to attack, bully and harass Mohbad…none of our artists ever fought or mistreated Mohbad,” Marley said.
He stated, “Mohbad left the label in September 2022, the label accepted his departure. Marlian Music did not stop or interfere with his career or releases since and has been with oneRPM. Legal efforts were made to reconcile his concerns regarding the work we had done together.”
Marley disclosed, ” I have been out of the country since the 31st of August and I’m yet to return. In the light of the police invitation, I’m making arrangements to return to the country to assist the investigation and give my version of the events. I am fully cooperating with the police team and I have no hand in his death.”
Mohbad died in a controversial circumstance that prompted thorough investigation into what led to his tragic death. The Lagos Police Command had since conducted an autopsy on the corpse of the deceased to unravel the cause of his death.
