Following extended negotiations, the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have successfully secured an N70,000 wage increase for workers across the nation.
President Bola Tinubu approved the new N70,000 minimum wage after a series of discussions, pledging to review the national minimum wage law every three years. The announcement was made by Minister of Information Mohammed Idris at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday.
The announcement was made during an ongoing meeting with leaders of organized labour, including NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero and TUC President Comrade Festus Usifo, along with other union members. Initially, labour leaders had demanded N250,000 minimum wage.
Is this what the labour union wanted for the workers?
