Northeastern University, located in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, has announced its upcoming visit to Covenant University in Nigeria to strengthen their existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The purpose of this visit is to enhance the partnership between the two institutions.
Gbemi Disu, the Vice President for Global Network Expansion at Northeastern University, emphasized that their visit to Covenant University is aimed at better understanding how to breathe life into the existing MoU. She acknowledged Nigeria’s wealth of talented individuals and expressed the belief that, in collaboration with Covenant University, they can harness this talent to drive excellence.
Ms. Disu outlined the key aspects of their partnership, which include equipping students with additional skills, fostering competence development, and facilitating collaborations between colleges and programs in both universities. Their focus will particularly revolve around institutional and individual research.
“We are here to engage with Covenant University’s strategic vision and mission, seeking areas where our goals align and where promising partnerships can be formed, with a strong emphasis on research and student exchanges,” she added.
Dr. Isaac Akinwunmi, the Director of Covenant University International Office of Linkages, expressed gratitude to Northeastern University for the visit and urged immediate activation of the existing MoU’s framework. He highlighted the potential for collaboration in graduate student exchange programs, joint research endeavors, and faculty exchange initiatives.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo expressed Covenant University’s enthusiasm for partnering with Northeastern University. He expressed hope that the current framework would serve as a solid foundation for the intended collaboration. Professor Adebayo emphasized the importance of identifying mutual areas of interest and initiating work towards realizing the partnership’s goals. “We are thrilled about this collaboration and are committed to working closely with you to ensure its success,” he added.
Furthermore, Professor Adebayo assured the Northeastern University delegation of Covenant University’s active participation in their public in-person educational event in Nigeria, showcasing their dedication to the partnership’s success.
