Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has taken a swipe at the media again, accusing African award organizers of overlooking his music.
In an interview with City 105.1 FM, he lamented that the media had already given him a blank out by not playing his videos.
He also decried the neglect he suffered at the hands of African award organizers, who have refused to nominate his band in any category, despite being nominated by the Grammys.
“I won’t stop speaking my mind because I’m no longer afraid of anything you’re going to do,” he boasted.
“What are you going to do? You’re not going to play my videos? Are you not already doing that? So, what are you going to do?” Seun questioned.
He emphasized that, regardless of how anyone perceives him, he remains the frontman for Africa’s most successful band; having produced 54 albums, which will soon increase to 55 with his next release.
“The band I lead is an African musical institution,” Seun declared. “If we knew what we were doing in Africa, it would go without saying that this band should be given some kind of national recognition to keep them at the forefront of the national psyche of African people all over the world, to know that Africans can achieve institutions like this.”
