Nigeria’s Supersand Eagles are on the brink of securing a spot in the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations, needing only a draw against Mauritania in Kaduna on Saturday. Last week’s tenacious 5-4 victory in Nouakchott, with goals from Emeka Ogbonna, Emmanuel Ohwoferia, Taiwo Adams, and two from veteran Victor Tale, has set the stage for a promising outcome.
The return leg will take place at the Beach Soccer Arena within Murtala Muhammed Square, Kaduna, starting at 5 PM. Mozambican officials, led by referee Dique Salvador Muxanga, with Angelo Almeida Nguenha and Jonas Chochota Chochato as assistants, will oversee the match. Angolan Eliano Domingos Tito Iacala will serve as the timekeeper, and Adalberto Luis Fonseca Catambi from Sao Tome and Principe will be the commissioner. All officials arrived in Kaduna on Thursday.
Coach Abdullahi Isa, a seasoned veteran of multiple Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations finals and FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Championships, has a robust squad ready for the match. Key players include Adams, Ohwoferia, Godwin Tale, Victor Tale, Egan-Osi Ekujimi, Chidozie Frank, Isah Arome, and Hassan Abdullahi.
A draw or win on Saturday will secure Nigeriaโs place in the finals in Egypt. Hosts Egypt, along with Morocco and Tanzania, whose opponents Angola and Uganda withdrew from the qualifiers, have already secured their spots in the 8-team finals.
