1801 – An electoral tie between Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr is resolved when Jefferson is elected President of the United States and Burr Vice President by the United States House of Representatives.
1936 – The Phantom, the world’s first superhero, appeared in the self-titled comic strip by Lee Falk.
1972 – British Parliament votes to join the European Common Market.
1974 – A stampede at a soccer match killed forty-nine people in Cairo, Egypt. The incident happened after the venue for the match was switched to a smaller stadium. Eighty thousand fans rushed in to get their seats at a stadium that could only accommodate 40,000 fans. The stadium’s supports crumbled and 49 died, and more were injured.
1979 – After the Vietnam War, Vietnam bolstered its ties with the Soviet Union rather than with China, and, following a series of anti-Chinese, pro-Soviet maneuvers by Vietnam, China invaded its southern neighbour this day in 1979.
1992 – Serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer is jailed for life. Dahmer was convicted of murdering and dismembering at least 17 young men and boys.
2008 – The Republic of Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia. Serbia disputed the separation of Kosovo and has repeatedly sought out international support to invalidate Kosovo’s independence.
2012 – Thieves stole up to 68 Olympic artifacts from a museum in Greece.
2014 – US Secretary of State John Kerry spoke to college students in Jakarta, Indonesia, about the looming threat of Climate Change. He talked of the urgency needed to address the issue and the dangers of interest groups who willfully deny the dangers it poses.
2017 – A potential new continent was discovered in the South Pacific. Zealandia is 94% underwater but is close to being recognized as a continent that would include New Zealand.
2018 – Three suicide bombers kill 18 in Konduga, North-east Nigeria.

Benedict Murray-Bruce OON is a Nigerian business magnate and politician. He is the founder of Silverbird Group. A member of the People’s Democratic Party, he was elected to the Senate of Nigeria in March 2015 where he represented the Bayelsa East Senatorial District, in Bayelsa State, Nigeria.

Michael Jeffrey Jordan, also known by his initials MJ, is an American businessman and former professional basketball player. He played fifteen seasons in the National Basketball Association between 1984 and 2003, winning six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls.
1991 Ed Sheeran AGE:32 years
Edward Christopher Sheeran MBE is an English singer-songwriter. Born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, and raised in Framlingham, Suffolk, he began writing songs around the age of eleven. In early 2011, Sheeran independently released the extended play No. 5 Collaborations Project.
