
UNIJOS Elevates 18 Academic Staff to Professorship
The University of Jos has advanced eighteen of its academic staff to the esteemed rank of Professor across various disciplines. This promotion, effective from October 1, 2022, is the institutionโs recent promotion exercise, which was reviewed and approved by the Appointment and Promotions Committee (Senior Staff) under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tanko Ishaya.

The newly appointed Professors include Dr. Sunday Joshua, who has been recognized as a Professor of Computational/Numerical Mathematics; Dr. Kums Ponfa Dombong, now a Professor of African History; Dr. Gushit John Stephen, elevated to Professor of Analytical Chemistry; and Dr. Janet Plang Punyit, who has become a Professor of Gender Studies and Gerontology among others.
Pro-Chancellor, Council Members Visit UniPort for Two-Day Session
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Port Harcourt, Distinguished Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, along with members of the reconstituted Governing Council, embarked on a two-day working visit to the University of Port Harcourt.
During their visit, the Pro-Chancellor delivered an address to the university community at a Congregation meeting held at 10 AM in the CBN Centre of Excellence Auditorium, University Park.

UNIUYO to Host 103rd Inaugural Lecture Today
Today, Thursday, July 25, 2024, the University of Uyo’s Management and Senate will host the institution’s 103rd Inaugural Lecture.
The lecture will be delivered by Prof. Joseph Akawu Ushie, a distinguished Professor of General Stylistics and Literary Criticism from the Department of English in the Faculty of Arts. Prof. Ushie will address the topic: “How Really Postcolonial Are ‘Postcolonial, Studies in Nigeria?”
