The University of Lagos has adopted the option of payment of fees by installment to ameliorate the challenges both students and parents/guardians face upon review of the University obligatory fees. Students can now pay their fees three times before the closure of registration for the second semester according to the authority.
This option and various other palliative measures were adopted during the recently conducted interactive meeting with a cross section of executive officers and members of the UNILAG Parent Forum held in the Senate Chamber, Senate House, UNILAG.
Clarifying issues and making response to deliberations at the meeting, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services) Professor Lucian Obinna Chukwu and other officials said UNILAG feels for students, parents/guardians in view of the country’s current economic hardship.
Other palliative measures announced during the interactive meeting include the revitalization of work-study to accommodate increase remuneration of which interested students can access the programme through the Dean, Students Affairs Division.
Also, students have the opportunity to access various scholarship opportunities, including UNILAG Scholars Award for exceptionally brilliant students.
It has also adopted measures to alleviate the suffering of indigent students through the provision of funds, meal tickets and food items.
The University has deployed a measure whereby exceptionally brilliant students selected as mentors for others will get adequate remuneration.
The institution has also partnered with Lagos Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system to facilitate ease of transportation as a dedicated route has been approved for persons who come from Berger Bus Stop axis of Lagos State. Discussions are also underway to have other routes such as Oshodi and Iyana Ipaja.
