The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) conducted the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on July 13, 2024, in several foreign countries, attracting international students to Nigerian institutions.
According to JAMB’s weekly bulletin, the exam was held in London, UK; Accra, Ghana; Cotonou, Benin; Johannesburg, South Africa; Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire; Banjul, The Gambia; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; and Cameroon.
The exam in Banjul took place at the Nigerian High Commission. JAMB aimed to showcase Nigerian tertiary institutions globally, placing them on par with international peers.
JAMB said the initiative has successfully drawn foreign students to Nigerian universities.
It disclosed that it had adopted a policy where the number of admitted foreign students will be a criterion for the NATAP M-Award, recognizing institutions that excel in international student recruitment.
Students who took the exam expressed their desire for a competitive education and gratitude to JAMB and the Nigerian government for the opportunity.
They promised to create awareness about this development in their communities.
