Description
Join Africa50 as a Communications Intern and contribute to shaping and managing our communications strategy to support Africa50’s mission of accelerating economic growth and development through infrastructure investments. This internship offers an opportunity to be involved in strategic communications across Africa, digital strategy, stakeholder management, and public relations, ensuring all communications align with Africa50’s overall mandate.
Principal Responsibilities
Support in Strategic Communication and Content Development:
Assist in the planning and organization of communications activities
Help produce creative and high quality visual content
Help manage digital platforms including social media, websites
Support the development and distribution of internal and external newsletters
Event and Project Management:
Assist in conceptualizing and coordinating internal and external events, including logistics
Support protocol management tasks and ensure smooth execution of both internal and external events
Media and Stakeholder Engagement:
Help maintain updated media lists and other key stakeholders contact details
Support daily media monitoring
Assist in preparing press releases distributions and organizing press conferences
Information Management and Administrative Support:
Assist in organizing files and communication materials, ensuring all shared folders are regularly updated
Follow-up on payment requests from vendors, coordinate group bookings, and handle various administrative tasks efficiently
Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with the communications team and across other departments to support Africa50’s communication goals
Participate in team meetings and contribute innovative ideas
Knowledge, Skill, and Experience
Experience or strong interest in Africa’s economic growth and positive impact through sustainable development initiatives
Proficiency in digital platforms and graphic design tools
Community management
Creative thinker with an innovative spirit
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Involvement in successful event and social media campaigns
Fluent in English and French. Portuguese is a plus
Academic and Professional Qualifications
Currently pursuing or graduated with a degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, journalism, or a related field
Interpersonal Competencies
Curious and eager to learn with a genuine interest in Africa50’s mission and values
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to diverse cultural backgrounds
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
Bring a fresh, innovative perspective on strategic communications

Location
This is a remote position with opportunities for travel related to events and projects
