Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has announced changes to the officiating crew for the 2026 World Cup qualifying match between Benin Republic and Nigeria, set to take place at Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Abidjan on Monday, June 10, 2024.
Ethiopian official Bamlak Tessema Weyesa, who was originally appointed as the referee, has been replaced by Gabonese referee Pierre Ghislain Atcho.
However, Weyesaโs colleagues, Temesgin Samuel Atango and Tigle Gizaw Belachew, will continue to serve as assistant referees 1 and 2, respectively.
The fourth official, Ethiopian Tewodros Mitiku, has been replaced by Cameroonian Antoine Max Effa Essouma.
The initially designated referee assessor, match commissioner, and security officer will maintain their roles for the match.
This game comes just three days after Nigeriaโs Super Eagles face South Africa’s Bafana Bafana at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo for their Day 3 encounter.
