What Are Pimples?
Pimple is common among teenagers and young adults, though it affects people of all ages. These are the ugly and painful small bumps on your face, giving you concerns, but the best you can do is get rid of them. It goes by many names like Pimple, acne, zits whiteheads, blackheads.
It could be very embarrassing to some who have been battling with it for some time without a solution, thus leading to some withdrawing from their peers because the pimples have become a label by which people describe them.
When the opening on the surface of the skin through which hair grows gets blocked with oil that lubricates the skin and the hair, and dead skin cells, this results in pimples. Pimples can be persistent, but there are ways checkmate its spread.
To understand pimples, you need to know how the skin works. The pores in your skin contain oil glands.
When there’s an increase in hormonal activities when you hit puberty, it also results in more sebum.
Sebum is a waxy, oily substance that protects and hydrates the skin to keep it healthy. However, too much sebum can lead to oily skin, clogged pores, and pimples. The increase in oil can also result in an overgrowth of bacteria called acnes.
Squeezing out the pores is the worst thing you can do. It irritates the skin and helps to spread oily bacteria over the face and could lead to scars

Cheek pimples may be due to one or more of the following: the type of makeup you use; your phone can also spread the bacteria when they rub on your infected face which helps to spread the bacteria; the use of dirty pillowcases; touching your face often, or hormonal changes.
Using oil-free makeup and oil-free sunscreen can also help. Note that products like gels you use on the hair can also cause pimples if they touch the skin.
How To Tackle Pimples
Pimples are part of growing up, but you can steps to prevent them or reduce the severity of pimples on the cheek by adopting good hygiene practices. Teens can wash their faces with mild soap and warm water using their hands and not sponge twice daily. Using oil-free makeup and oil-free sunscreen can also help.
What medicine can help fight pimples?
Over-the-counter drugs that contain benzoyl peroxide can help. Do not overuse it. If the pimple becomes an issue, then you need to consult your doctor.
Note that no matter the level of pimples, it will decrease as you get older.
