
Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt secured their ninth title, while El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri claimed their third as the grand finale of Nigeriaโs National Cup, now known as the President Federation Cup, unfolded at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Saturday.

The womenโs final, a captivating match between the Angels from Garden City and Naija Ratels from the Federal Capital Territory, kicked off at 1pm near the Lagos Waterfront. The game was decided by a penalty goal from Blessing Okpe just before halftime.
Head coach Whyte Ogbonda, celebrating his first trophy in this role, lauded his teamโs dedication, resilience, and hard work. โThis victory is a testament to the teamโs resilience and determination. We are thrilled to be champions of the President Federation Cup.โ
Bankole Olowookere, the head coach of Naija Ratels, praised his young team for reaching the final. โAlthough we did not achieve the desired result, I am proud of my players for their fighting spirit. We will learn from this experience and come back stronger.โ
In the menโs final, El-Kanemi Warriors delivered a stellar performance to defeat a determined Abia Warriors team 2-0, in a match that kept spectators on edge. Midfielder Nasiru Salihu, who was named the most valuable player of the competition, dazzled with his skill and scored both goals, delaying Abia Warriorsโ moment of glory.
The victory earned El-Kanemi Warriors, who previously won the trophy in 1991 and 1992, a spot to represent Nigeria in the next seasonโs CAF Confederation Cup, alongside Enyimba FC of Aba.
The event was graced by numerous dignitaries, including Sports Development Minister Senator John Owan Enoh, Acting Governor of Borno State His Excellency Umar Usman, and NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau. Other attendees included representatives of the Governors of Lagos and Abia States, Nigeriaโs FIFA Member Amaju Pinnick, top officials of the Lagos State Government, Members of the NFF Executive Committee, Members of the NFF Congress, and directors of the NFF and Lagos State Football Association.
