For Nigerian students, brighter days are ahead as the Tinubu-led Federal Government has announced that portals for student loan applications will be opened on May 24, 2024.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELF) media team, led by Nasiru Ayantago, recently.
According to the statement, for the regime of President Tinubu, the opening of the portal marks a significant milestone in fostering accessible and inclusive education for all Nigerian students.
The statement added that students can now access loans to pursue their academic aspirations without financial constraints.
It said they can submit their applications conveniently, as the portal provides a user-friendly interface for them.
“We encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity to invest in their future and contribute to the growth and development of our nation,” said the statement.
To begin the application, students can access the portal on www.nef.gov.ng as stated in the release.
It can be recalled that the Access to Higher Education Act was signed into law by President Tinubu on June 12, 2023.
The law allows indigent students to access interest-free loans for their educational pursuits in any Nigerian tertiary institution.
The Act, known as the Students Loan Law, also established NELF, which is to supervise the processing, granting, disbursement, and recovery of these loans.
