The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced a temporary restriction on the use of the National Identification Number (NIN) for student applicants.
The announcement was made on NELFUND’s official X handle on Tuesday.
The restriction is due to a recent upgrade in the security system for NIN, which has caused significant difficulties for students applying for NELFUND loans.
The issue particularly affects students whose NINs are not linked to their Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration.
NELFUND has assured student applicants that an update will be provided once the issue is resolved, stating, “We will advise once it is done.”
Earlier, NELFUND extended the application window for state institutions from June 25 to July 10, 2024, due to low data submission.
The fund urged institutions to provide accurate and complete information to facilitate an efficient and error-free application process.
Incomplete or incorrect data submission may result in delays or disqualification for affected students.
