The organizers of the 20th edition of Carnival Calabar have unveiled plans to provide sponsors with an unparalleled level of visibility and engagement at this year’s event. Effiong Ekpenyong, Special Adviser to the governor of Cross River State on event management and chairman of the carnival committee, announced the exciting developments during a press conference in Lagos.
Ekpenyong highlighted the addition of new activities to this year’s carnival, making it more captivating and rewarding for attendees. He emphasized the extensive exposure sponsors will receive, stating, “Our mileage is second to none. When you partner with us, you will never regret it.”
Regarding the theme, “Our Shared Prosperity,” Ekpenyong explained the meticulous thought process behind selecting themes for the carnival, which guides the creative interpretations seen in the event’s dances and costumes.
Chairman of the Cross River State Carnival Commission, Gabe Onah, praised the carnival’s evolution over the years, emphasizing its role in showcasing the region’s rich cultural heritage. He emphasized the importance of culture in the Niger Delta region, describing it as “our crude oil.”
Onah also highlighted the enduring nature of Carnival Calabar, attributing its success to the commitment of the government, community, and stakeholders. He expressed optimism about the involvement of future generations in sustaining the carnival’s legacy.
Okhma, head of the Marketing Firm for Carnival Calabar, expressed gratitude to the state government for entrusting them with the marketing responsibilities. She emphasized the theme of “shared prosperity” and its significance in the marketing strategy, noting that the carnival aims to promote values of unity and inclusivity.
As preparations for Carnival Calabar 2024 continue, the organizers are inviting more partners to join the initiative, offering them a unique platform to connect with over 2 million attendees during the 32-day event.
