The Nigerian U17 women’s team, the Flamingos, have clinched their place in the FIFA U17 World Cup to be held in the Dominican Republic. Their qualification comes after a decisive 2-0 victory over Liberia in Abuja, resulting in a 6-1 aggregate triumph.
Chidi Harmony emerged as the star of the match in Abuja, scoring both goals and bringing her total to 13 in the qualifiers.
In the first leg held in Monrovia, Nigeria secured a 4-1 win. Goals came from standout player Harmony Chidi, who had 11 goals in the qualifying series, along with contributions from Shakirat Moshood, Peace Effiong, and substitute Blessing Ifitezue.
Liberia managed a late consolation goal via a penalty in the final five minutes at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.
