According to Unilorin Bulletin, The NPMCN President, Prof. Akin Osibogun, disclosed this recently during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, in his office.
Prof. Osibogun, who was accompanied on the visit by the Registrar of NPMCN, Prof. Fatiu Arogundade, explained that his team was on the campus to assess the readiness of the University to host the conference, noting that over 1000 medical consultants would attend the conference.
According to Prof. Osibogun, the College handles the accreditation of Training Institutions for the Professional Postgraduate training of doctors and dentists and the periodical publication of a list of such accredited institutions.
He stated further that the College coordinates the organization of professional postgraduate training programmes and curricula and the conduct of Continuing Professional Development in the various specialised branches of medicine and dentistry and through the various Faculties of the College.
Welcoming the team to the University, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Egbewole thanked the NPMCN for considering the University to host such an important conference.
Prof. Egbewole, who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services) Prof. S. F. Ambali, stressed that medical education is lifelong, considering the emergence of new diseases that must be conquered.
The Vice Chancellor stated that it is a great honour to be awarded the hosting right of such an esteemed conference and assured that the institution would provide all the support necessary to make the conference successful and memorable.
