The University of PortHarcourt, River State, has listed array of feats as part of its overwhelming performances in the month of October.
One of the feats, according to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Owunari A. Georgwill, is that the institution was selected as on of the six universities in Nigeria for the establishment of an Innovation Hub by TETFund.
The selection was contained in a letter signed by the Director of Research and Development/Centre of Excellence on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the National University Commission (NUC).
Recording another achievement in the month, the National University Commission (NUC) Accredited Team visited the University’s Department of Environmental Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering and the School of Science Laboratory Technology.
Professor Georgewill expressed that the Team assessed course content, staff strength and capacity, infrastructure and other enabling conditions for the smooth running of the stated programmes, where the University met all the criteria.
In a relax mood, Uniport also partook in the opening ceremony of the 2023 Nollywood National Conference held on its campus, where Nollywood celebrities and academics met to discuss on the conference entitled, “Movie Stardom and Nation Building.”
In the area of its primary responsibility to teach and examine students, the VC disclosed that the University participated in the Part 11 MBBS Oral Examination of the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, College of Health Sciences.
Further, the University also inaugurated Innovation and Entrepreneurship Club, inaugurated by the representative of the Director of Small & Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, Lucy Ekpeyong.
