The newly inaugurated Students’ Union President of the University of Ibadan, Aweda Bolaji Damilola, popularly known as Oloye, has pledged to prioritize transparency and accountability during his tenure.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at Trenchard Hall on Monday, May 13, 2024, Oloye stated, “As the president of the Union, I pledge to uphold professionalism, ensuring transparency and accountability in all our dealings.
Establishing effective communication channels will be a top priority to keep all students informed of developments and decisions.”
Additionally, Oloye promised to improve student life in key areas such as transportation, academics, and entrepreneurship development.
Regarding the issue of school fee increments, Oloye called on the university management to reopen discussions with student leaders. He emphasized the need for a fair fee structure that considers the financial challenges faced by students. Oloye stated, “We urge the school management to reconsider and engage students in constructive dialogue to find a mutually beneficial solution that acknowledges the economic realities our students face.”
Oloye’s inauguration marks the beginning of his tenure, during which he aims to bring positive change and advocate for the welfare of the student body.
