Barcelona has announced the appointment of Hansi Flick as their new head coach. Flick, 59, has signed a contract extending through the summer of 2026.
“It’s a tremendous honor and a dream come true to sign with FC Barcelona and work for this exceptional club. They boast one of the world’s top academies and a great blend of seasoned players and young talent,” said Flick.
“I have experienced success with Bayern Munich, and my appetite for winning titles remains strong. I aim to continue that winning streak with Barcelona, and I believe we can achieve great things together.”
Flick’s most recent role was as the coach of the German national team, from which he was dismissed last September. His most notable accomplishment as a coach was leading Bayern Munich to a Treble in the 2019/2020 season.
During his tenure at Bayern Munich, Flick worked with Robert Lewandowski and had previously coached Marc-André ter Stegen and Ilkay Gündogan with the national team.
According to AS, Flick will earn €3 million per season at Barcelona. Additionally, his earnings could increase with success: he stands to receive a €1 million bonus if the team wins the Champions League and €750,000 for a La Liga title.
