The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has disclosed that all the candidates of Direct Entry, comprising those seeking to be in year two in universities, would now be required to sit for Unify Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), along with other candidates. According to the Board, this would make them justify the possession of their A’ Level certificate and enable the Board enhance the growth of the nation’s education sector in a bid to promoting transparency, accountability and good governance.
The Board said it would also show the commitment and determination towards changing the negative narration of A’ Level admission into higher institution in Nigeria.
It added that the policy change would also be able to holistically address all loopholes leading to the abuses in the Direct Entry admission process.
