The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has dismissed recent claims circulating in some online media outlets that Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has been banned from the team due to a recent social media incident.
Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, the NFF General Secretary, expressed surprise at these reports, clarifying that the Federation has neither initiated nor completed any process to ban Osimhen from the National Team.
“The NFF urges the media to collaborate with us to resolve issues constructively and maintain a focus on the larger goals, rather than unnecessarily inflaming situations. There has been no official statement from the NFF regarding a ban on Osimhen, yet some individuals have spread this misinformation. This is detrimental,” said Sanusi.
“Our current priority is to address all matters concerning the Super Eagles and to prepare confidently for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers and the remaining matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series. This is not the time to disseminate falsehoods and further muddy the public discourse.”
