The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has issued a stern warning to the Football Associations (FAs) of the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) regarding the conclusion of their Federation Cup competition. The NFF has instructed all FAs to ensure that their Federation Cup final matches are played on either the 30th or 31st of March 2024, as specified by the NFF. Failure to comply with this directive will result in a hefty penalty of N1 million.
Ruth David, the NFF’s Director of Competitions, emphasized that the football-ruling body will not tolerate any further disruptions caused by FAs setting their timetables that deviate from the NFF’s schedule.
She stated, “The NFF has clearly outlined the schedule from the beginning, mandating that States must play their final matches either on Saturday, 30th March, or Sunday, 31st March. We have reiterated this schedule to the States, and any State that fails to adhere to the dates will face consequences.”
David further explained, “Any State that fails to conclude its championship by Sunday, 31st March will be fined the sum of N1 million. Similarly, any State that concludes its championship before Saturday, 30th March will also be fined the same amount of money.”
The Federation Cup competition in the States commenced on Friday, 1st March 2024. The NFF’s directive aims to ensure that the competition progresses smoothly and efficiently, adhering to the predetermined schedule.
