The Managing Director and CEO of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Mr. Akintunde Sawyer, has announced that students of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) are not eligible for the loan provided by the Federal Government.
This is because they do not possess a Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) number, a mandatory requirement for accessing the facility.
Sawyer emphasized that the JAMB number is non-negotiable and urged NOUN students to regularize their status with JAMB to access the loan.
He stressed that NELFUND has strict criteria and will not bend its rules for any institution or individual.
Other mandatory requirements include the name of the institution of study, admission number, date of birth, National Identity Number (NIN), and Bank Verification Number (BVN).
NELFUND aims to ensure due diligence, protect taxpayers’ money, and account for its disbursements.
