The founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Chief Afe Babalola, has awarded the sum of N12m to scholars for their outstanding research output and publications in globally recognized journals.
This was announced during the 2023/2024 journal award presentation at the University.
Afe Babalola has also promised incentives for future scholarly work, including a brand new car for a staff member who produces at least 75 publications.
The first runner-up will receive N1 million for at least 60 publications, and the next will receive N750,000 for at least 55 publications.
Since 2015, Afe Babalola has spent over N350 million to support research publication in Scopus-indexed journals, aligning with the institution’s mission to reform Nigeria’s educational system.
ABUAD now has its journal, ABUAD/OGEES Journal of Sustainable Development Law and Policy (JSDLP), which has the same status as Scopus.
Afe Babalola encouraged staff to publish in the ABUAD/OGEES Journal to avoid payment challenges.
He urged scholars to meet high standards in their research and publications, promising financial and moral support to maintain ABUAD’s global recognition.
He also encouraged scholars to translate their research into marketable products, which he promised to fund.
“This is one of the reasons I established the University, the Multi-system hospital, the industrial park, and the Agro-tourist farm,” he said.
