The Oyo State Government has decided to rename Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, and Oyo State College of Nursing and Midwifery.
This decision was reached at the State Executive Council meeting held last Tuesday, where other resolutions were also passed.
According to the Council, the State House of Assembly has already been informed, and all requirements have been forwarded to effect the change.
As stated by the Commissioner for Justice, Abiodun Aikomo, the need to rename Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, was driven by the desire to honour the former Secretary to the State Government, Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleoso, for his meritorious service to the state in various capacities.
The Commissioner added that the Council considered the renaming of the Oyo State College of Nursing and Midwifery at the request of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, which sought a change in the institution’s name.
Aikomo emphasized that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State believes in honouring individuals while they are still alive, rather than waiting until they have passed away.”
