Nigerian singer, Simisola Kosoko (Simi), has thrown her weight behind the ongoing protests against tax hikes in Kenya.
On her social media handle, Simi, who is married to Adekunle Gold, expressed her solidarity with the protesters, praising the Kenyan people for fighting for their rights and freedom.
“I stand with the people of Kenya,” Simi wrote, adding, “It’s both powerful and heartbreaking to see a people having to fight and die for their freedom and rights. Godspeed and strength.”
In another post, Simi lamented the oppression by African leaders, stating that the fight for justice becomes necessary when people are pushed to the limit.
“I long for the day when Africa will no longer be a weapon used against Africans,” she said.
“We have so much Black power and human resources, but the majority won’t thrive unless they flee.”
