It’s not out of place that Nigerian universities, both private and public, are clamping down on indecent dressing by male and female students.
Everywhere, in churches and mosques, the behaviour, which is seen as immoral and contrary to the acceptable norms and values of society, is constantly being condemned.
One of such condemnations was an outright berating of the practice by the renowned Nollywood actress turned preacher, Eucharia Anunobi, who tongue-lashed Christian ladies who dress indecently as devoid of the Holy Spirit, except on Sundays when they come to the church, appearing hypocritically well-dressed.
This clamp down on indecent dressing everywhere suggests that the practice is abominable and unacceptable, but yet more embraced in this modern time of the Internet and social media.
However, the practice is hideous, and anytime anyone, whether male or female, deliberately exposes his or her body to the public, he or she is indecent.
What Constitute Indecent Dressing?
Indecent dressing embraces a culture of wearing clothes that leave bare sensitive parts of a body.
Such dresses encompass clothes such as strapless wear, bum shorts, short blouses, miniskirts, mini gowns, cleavage shirts, sagging trousers by boys and even girls, transparent clothes, and tight clothes that reveal body shape among others and leave sensitive parts of the body such as the armpit, breast exposed.
Favour/Opportunity: Indecent dressing takes away favour and opportunity. It’s rare to find favour or opportunity when dressed indecently. The impression is that you can’t be entrusted with things of value because of the way you appear. Appearance, as they say, shows the manner.
