43 programmes at the Federal University Kashere in Gombe State have been accredited by the National University Commission (NUC).
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Spokesperson of NUC, Janet Ezekiel informed that the approval was contained in a letter bearing the reference number NUC/ Es/412/Vol.14/327 directed to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Umaru Pate.
Ezekiel confirmed that four postgraduate and 32 undergraduate courses received full accreditation, while seven undergraduate programmes received interim accreditation.
The letter read in part, “…The commission has organized the accreditation of academic programmes at Federal University Kashere in October/November and accredited all the 43 academic programmes that were presented in either accredited, full, or interim accreditation status.”
She added that 98 programmes run by the institution got full accreditation, comprising 49 postgraduate and 42 undergraduate programmes, as seven undergraduate programmes secured interim accreditation status.
The accreditation status is valid for five years for postgraduate programmes and undergraduate programmes with full accreditation, and two years for programmes with interim accreditation status.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Umaru Pate, expressed his delight at the development and called for the support of all staff to transform the university into a citadel of learning.
