The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 25 new programmes at Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education (AIFUE), Owerri, which will commence in the 2023/2024 academic session.
The approval was announced by Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Stella Ngozi Lemchi.
The university is now accepting applications from students in Nigeria and abroad.
The approval follows a successful Resource Verification exercise conducted by the NUC earlier this year, which assessed proposed programmes across various faculties, including Arts, Education, Sciences, Social Sciences, and Vocational and Technical Education.
The university impressed the NUC team, earning commendation and paving the way for the approval of the new programmes.
The approved courses include a BA (Ed) in History, Music, Christian Religious Studies, English Studies, French, Igbo, and Creative Arts Education.
Others are B. Ed. in Guidance and Counselling, B.Sc (Ed) in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Health Education, Computer Education, Human Kinetics, Economics, Political Science, Social Studies, Geography, Agricultural Education, Business Education, Home Economics, Accounting, and Technology Education.
According to Professor Lemchi, the university is committed to providing quality education and hopes to receive approval for additional programs from the NUC.
