Still sobbing, Nollywood actress and Women Leader of Actors’ Guild Of Nigeria (AGN), Rita Edochie, has penned a mournful note in honour of the departed Nollywood actor, the late Ameachi Muonagor.
She wrote of Ameachi’s death, “It was too bad he couldn’t recover from this illness. Amaechi, your departure has left an irreplaceable void between my family and I.”
She continued, “You were more than a brother and colleague; you were a beacon of light illuminating our days with your infectious laughter and unwavering kindness.”
She expressed that Muonagor’s absence was felt deeply, as they remembered the countless moments shared and the lessons learned from his wisdom.
Meanwhile, Edochie did not take kindly to the insinuation that it is only in Nollywood where death is striking like thunder.
She urged people to stop reading the meanings of death in Nollywood, that if teachers, doctors, lawyers, businessmen, women, and even pastors could die, then nothing should be different with filmmakers who could also die.
She asked, “Are actors not human too? …death is only a displeasing call of nature.”
Mounagor died last week of kidney-related disease, diabetes, and stroke after being bedridden for some time, of which Edochie had solicited for support on behalf of the late actor before his demise.
Besides Muonagor’s death, Nollywood had lost the likes of John Okafor aka Mr Ibu, Sisi Quadri, and movie producer, Andy Best.
