The Barbadian pop and rhythm and blues singer, Rihanna, has expressed her wish to sing with Afrobeats sensation and Grammy Awards nominated singer, Ayra Starr, during the Fent event. Ayra Star had earlier expressed her desire to collaborate with Rihanna, whom she looks up to as a role model.
While chatting on the black carpet during the event, Rihanna said, “I have been hearing of Ayra Star. I don’t know who but my cousin, she was like, ‘Oh my God, I got this song from Ayra Starr,’ She was obsessed with you.”
She asked Ayra Starr if she had a song with Tems, another Afrobeats sensation, to which Ayra Starr replied to be Tems’ sister, whom she might have collaborated with, even though, “We do have songs but we don’t have a song out yet. But soon…”, she hinted.
Ayra Starr had stated sometimes, “I adore Rihanna. My matriarch is her. She reigns as my queen. Her ‘Ant’ album is classic. I always listen to it. I’m understanding it more and more as I listen to it. I’m fond of it.
The Nigerian singer expressed in an interview with Rolling Stone that Rihanna had once advised her to be herself, and that whatever worked for her was okay, which is different from what works for another person.
