Hon. Chief Nicholas Adekunle Chidiebere Ajayi, a former board member of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi (FIIRO), has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for introducing student education loans.
Speaking at the biennial inter-house sports competition of Ageke Primary School in Ejigbo, Lagos State, Ajayi, a prominent member of the All Progressive Congress (APC), lauded the move as a significant step towards enhancing education in Nigeria.
“Acknowledging the pivotal role of education in national development, President Tinubu, during his tenure as the governor of Lagos State, implemented free education from primary to university level. His continued focus on the education sector is evident in the 2024 budget, and I commend him for allocating resources to education,” Ajayi stated.
While emphasizing the importance of effectively implementing the student education loan policy, Ajayi urged authorities to ensure that it benefits deserving students, enabling them to complete their education and pursue further studies. He highlighted the policy’s potential to cultivate the skilled workforce needed to propel the nation’s economy forward.
Ajayi also emphasized the value of sports in education, noting that sporting events provide schools with opportunities to discover and nurture talents. He commended parents for choosing a reputable institution like Ageke Primary School and praised the school’s administration for its commitment to a well-rounded educational program.
Mrs. Victoria Idowu, the Head Teacher of Ageke Primary School, underscored the importance of the inter-house sports competition in fulfilling the school curriculum’s objectives of engaging students in extracurricular activities, as mandated by the Ministry of Education.
