The fast-rising Afrobeat singer, Ahmed Ololade aka Asake, may be on his way out of Yahoo Boy No Laptop Nation (YBNL) record label as disclosed by its Chief Executive Officer, Olamide Gbenga Adedeji aka Badoo.
In Zamani Blog’s X handle, Badoo was quoted to have said, “Asake might be leaving YBNL anytime soon. Yeah I’m proud of him and my mission accomplished.”
Badoo added, “Like I said, I don’t sign artistes to make money from them, that’s is my own way to give back to the community.”
He said, “Asake is a big Boy now, I want him to go out there and help others. Mr Money no be name, him dey make money and I’m proud of him.”
Asake was signed to YBNL after he released his hit song ‘Omo Ope’ saying he had been begging the YBNL boss to help both Fireboy and Chinko Ekun his friends so that the same gesture could be extended to him.
However luck beckoned at him when Olamide demanded that they meet after which he requested if Asake would like to join the family. This was after Asake had been sending text messages to him since 2020.
Olamide had helped to shape the careers of singers like Adekunle Gold, Lil Kesh, Fireboy DML among others, launching YBNL in 2012.
