Two students from the Faculty of Education at Lagos State University (LASU) have emerged as the best-graduating students for the 2023/2024 academic session as the institution holds its 27th Convocation.
Olaniyi Olawale, a graduating student of Accounting Education, recorded a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.79, while Olaitan Damilola, a Master’s student of Educational Management, obtained a CGPA of 4.98.
Overall, 153 students will be graduating with first-class honors during the Convocation, scheduled to take place between May 30 and June 6, 2024.
According to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, LASU will graduate 8,670 students in the first degree category and 2,164 post-graduate students.
Out of the graduating first degree students, 3,029 obtained second-class upper division, 715 clinched second-class lower division, 228 recorded pass, and 195 bagged non-classified degrees.
“Out of the 2,164 post-graduate students graduating, we have 375 post-graduate diplomas, 962 academic masters, 672 professional masters, 89 Doctor of Philosophy, and 66 professional doctoral degrees,” said Professor Olatunji-Bello.
She added, “Out of the 554 diploma students graduating this year, there are 55 distinctions, 274 upper credits, 224 lower credits, and one pass.”
